  • WHAT ARE THE EVENT DATES?

    5 November, 2020 - 26 January, 2021 - Closed 25 December (day and night)

  • ARE THERE ANY RESTRICTIONS DUE TO COVID-19?

    Yes, we are following strict health and safety regulations and all the recommendations in place from the NSW Government.

    • NSW Minister for Health and Medical Research the Honourable Brad Hazzard MP has granted the Gardens an exemption under the Public Health (COVID-19 Restrictions on Gathering and Movement) Order (no 5) 2020 under the Public Health Act 2020. The Gardens will now have a capacity of 5000 attendees at any one time.
    • Guests will be required to sign in via a QR code prior to entry, contact details will be stored electronically for 28 days.
    • During your visit to the Gardens, you must follow social distancing guidelines with 1.5 metres separation between each other unless you are members of the same household or close contacts.
    • Groups of more than 30 persons are not allowed.
    • We follow strict hygiene practices and have COVID-19 Marshalls on site.
    • Any guest displaying flu like symptoms will be refused entry.
  • WHAT ARE THE TRADING HOURS?

    Hunter Valley Gardens Day 9am - 5pm

    Hunter Valley Gardens Christmas Lights Spectacular 6:30pm – 10:30pm

    All visitors must vacate the Gardens between 5pm and 6:30pm.

  • IS THE EVENT SUITABLE FOR WHEELCHAIRS?

    All of the paths within Hunter Valley Gardens are wheelchair friendly.

  • ARE THERE WHEELCHAIRS FOR HIRE?

    We do not have any wheelchairs for hire.

  • CAN WE WALK THROUGH THE FULL GARDENS BEFORE WE SEE THE LIGHTS?
    • The Gardens will be open during the day from 9am – 5pm if you wish to see the whole Garden, separate tickets can be purchased to enter the Gardens during the day.
    • Christmas Lights Tickets give you access to specific areas of the Gardens where the lights are on display, the rest of the Garden is not accessible at night.

    All visitors must vacate the Gardens between 5pm and 6:30pm.

  • ARE THERE ANY GUIDED TOURS OF THE GARDENS?

    No, due to COVID-19 restrictions there are no guided tours through the Gardens at this time.

  • WHEN WILL SANTA BE AT CHRISTMAS LIGHTS SPECTACULAR?

    Santa will be at the Christmas Lights Spectacular every evening until Christmas Eve in the event area.

    Santa photos are available in the event area from 6:30pm – 10pm every night until Christmas. Contactless payment is preferred.

    Due to COVID-19 photos will be emailed to your designated email addresses. You can choose to add more than one email address upon request.
    However, if you do not want the photos to be emailed, a 4GB USB can be purchased for $5.
    Photos can also be uploaded to Facebook immediately upon your request.

    Please advise the photographer your preferred method.

    $37.50 – Single group photo (best for small families or single child) Up to 12 people maximum. 3-6 different photos supplied.

  • IS CHRISTMAS LIGHTS SPECTACULAR OPEN ON CHRISTMAS DAY?

    No, 25th December, the Gardens and Christmas Lights Spectacular are closed.

  • WHY DO THE LIGHTS CLOSE IN INCLEMENT WEATHER?

    We do our best to run the Christmas Lights at all times; however sometimes due to adverse weather conditions, we have to close the event due to occupational health and safety risks.

  • WHAT HAPPENS IF IT RAINS?

    Christmas Lights Spectacular is an outdoor activity and is subject to changing weather conditions. We do our very best to make sure the activities can remain open, which means the activities will continue in the case of rain and will only be cancelled if the weather conditions are considered dangerous by event management.

    Please note that no exchange will be provided to those who choose not to come due to weather despite the activities being deemed safe and open, unless changes to the booking are made strictly 48 hours prior to the booked session, by using this form http://bit.ly/Booking_update or emailing bookings@hvg.com.au The team will get back to you as soon as possible during business hours.

    Ponchos will be available for purchase at HV Gifts and Crystals; however, we strongly recommend you bring your own wet weather gear. The use of umbrellas is accepted.

    Hunter Valley Gardens will take all reasonable efforts to notify of a cancellation ASAP, however, due to the unpredictability of a change in weather conditions, cancellations may be at short notice.

  • WHAT HAPPENS TO MY TICKETS IF THE EVENT CLOSES DUE TO ADVERSE WEATHER CONDITIONS?

    Christmas Lights tickets are date specific and can only be used for the day purchased, if Hunter Valley Gardens needs to close due to a severe weather event, ticket holders will be offered a change of date (subject to availability) or a refund.

  • WILL THERE BE PARKING AVAILABLE?

    For visitors, there is free parking available and limited disabled parking (displaying a disability parking permit is required).

    The close car park fills quickly so we recommend getting in early.

  • DO YOU ACCEPT THE COMPANION CARD?

    Yes. The Companion Card is a credit-card-sized photo. ID card issued to people with a disability who require lifelong attendant care.
    You still need to make a booking for a specific date, please contact bookings@hvg.com.au for further assistance.

  • DO YOU ACCEPT PENSIONERS CARD OR DO YOU HAVE A PENSIONERS DISCOUNT?

    We do not accept pensioner cards for this event.

  • HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO SEE THE LIGHTS?

    We recommend arriving earlier when the event starts at 6:30pm and allow at least 2 hours to walk around the Gardens and enjoy the rides.

  • WHAT IS THE LAST ENTRY TIME DURING THE EVENT?

    Last entry to Christmas Lights Spectacular is 9:30pm each evening. We recommend arriving early and allow at least 2 hours to enjoy the event. Lights displays are on until 10:30pm and our rides close at 10pm each evening.

  • DO YOU OFFER RE-ENTRY?

    Yes, we have pass outs available within the same day.  If you wish to return during the same evening, you must notify the staff at the Garden entry who will issue you with a pass that will allow you re-entry for that session only.

  • WHAT IS YOUR COVID-19 PLAN NOW THAT YOU HAVE A CAPACITY EXEMPTION?

    Our exemption request was reviewed by a Senior Medical Officer as part of the COVID-19 Policy Team from NSW Health and only after meeting very strict health and safety criteria were we given an exemption, in line with other major recreation facilities in NSW. We have strict hygiene practices in place and COVID-19 Marshalls on site.

  • WHY ARE YOU RELEASING NOVEMBER TICKETS ONLY?

    Due to the fluid nature of the current COVID-19 conditions, Christmas Lights Spectacular tickets will be offered in staged releases with 5th - 30th November tickets on sale from 15th October, December and January tickets will be available from mid-November.

    December and January tickets are available for sale now. Please visit our website and make sure you select your preferred date correctly when purchasing your tickets.

  • WHEN DECEMBER TICKETS WILL BE RELEASED?

  • WHAT HAPPENS IF I PURCHASE CHRISTMAS LIGHTS SPECTACULAR TICKETS FOR NOVEMBER DATES AND I WANT TO CHANGE TO DECEMBER DATES?

    Choosing November tickets but wanting an exchange for December dates that haven’t been released will result in a refund.

  • HOW CAN I PURCHASE TICKETS?

    Tickets will be available to purchase online, subject to availability. Please make sure you correctly CHOOSE your preferred date when selecting your tickets. No tickets will be available to be purchased over the phone.

  • DO I NEED TO PRINT MY TICKETS?

    We recommend printing tickets, however, mobile tickets are also accepted. If tickets cannot be presented at the gate, this will result in non-entry.

  • CAN I USE THE TICKETS FOR ANY NIGHT OF THE SEASON?

    Christmas Lights tickets are date specific and can only be used for the day purchased. Tickets that are not valid for the day of arrival may be refused entry.

    These are the same as the regular Christmas Lights tickets; you will need to purchase a Christmas Lights ticket for 31st December. Tickets can be purchased online. Numbers will be also be capped due to COVID-19 Government regulations.

    All rides are user pay. These include Ferris Wheel, Carousel and Tea Cup. Single-use ride tokens are $5. Unlimited wristbands are not available. Rides Information

  • WHAT ARE THE RIDES?

    Our amusement rides bring an added element of fun to the Gardens for both the young and young at heart. Children must be supervised at all times whilst on the rides.

    Due to COVID-19 restrictions, we will only be operating the Ferris Wheel, Venetian Carousel and the all new Tea Cup rides during Christmas Lights.

    Rides will not operate during adverse weather conditions as determined by the ride operator.

  • WHEN ARE THE RIDES AVAILABLE TO USE?

    Our rides are available to use from 6:30pm to 10pm each night during Christmas Lights Spectacular.

  • WHO CAN GO ON THE RIDES?

    Ferris Wheel: Children below 120cm must ride with an adult.

    Carousel: Children below 105cm must ride with an adult (adult must stand next to child).

    Tea Cup: Children between 95cm - 120cm must ride with an adult, 120cm and above may ride alone.

    Children must be supervised at all times.

  • ARE THERE ANY PHYSICAL RESTRICTIONS ON USING THE RIDES?

    Our rides are subject to safety requirements that a user must meet to participate. Key height restrictions are listed below, but other conditions can be found on the safety requirements signage at each of the rides.

    Ferris Wheel: Children below 120cm must ride with an adult.

    Carousel: This ride is for children only. Children below 105cm must ride with an adult (adult must stand next to child).

    Tea Cup: Not suitable for children younger than 2 years and under 95cm. Children between 95cm-120cm must ride with an adult, 120cm and above may ride alone.

    PLEASE NOTE: Heights are checked at each individual ride and access will be approved by the operator.

  • WHAT IF I HAVE A BABY, DO THEY HAVE TO PAY?

    Babies 18 months and below are permitted to ride with adults on the Ferris Wheel for free. They must have a token for the Carousel.

  • RIDES CLOSURES

    Safety is of the utmost importance to us. Due to weather and maintenance, we may temporarily close the rides at times for customer safety, however, we do endeavour to have them open again as soon as possible.

  • CAN I PURCHASE AN ANNUAL PASS?

    Annual passes are great value and offer entry to Hunter Valley Gardens for 12 months from the purchase date. Annual pass tickets do include events, however, due to current restrictions, annual pass holders must book an event ticket (a special code will be emailed to all annual pass holders to enable them to book an event ticket at no additional charge).

  • CAN I TAKE MY FAMILY PET, BIKE, SKATEBOARD, DRONE, ROLLERBLADES OR SCOOTER INSIDE HUNTER VALLEY GARDENS?

    In the interest of the public, all of the above are not permitted.

  • WHAT HAPPENS TO LOST PROPERTY?

    Lost property can be collected from Garden Entry or call 4998 4000. Items that are not claimed within 7 days will be discarded or donated to local charities. 

  • IS HVG ACCESSIBLE TO EVERYONE?

    Hunter Valley Gardens is located on a 25 hectare site. The garden paths are approximately 8km and contain loose granite which can be navigated by wheelchairs. Please wear sensible footwear and take all necessary precautions to prevent injury to yourself.

  • GUIDE DOGS

    Registered guide dogs and companion dogs are allowed into the Gardens with their owners. Documentation for these animals is required upon entry.

  • IS HVG ACCESSIBLE TO PRAMS AND STROLLERS?

    Paths and ramps are wide enough to accommodate pedestrians, prams and strollers.
