  • What are the opening hours and dates of Mega Creatures?

    Mega Creatures runs from Saturday 27th March to Sunday 25th April 2021. NEW to this year, running alongside the day event we are happy to introduce Mega Creatures Night Safari!

    Mega Creatures – Day session. From 9am to 4:30pm Mega Creatures Night Safari – Night session. From 6pm to 10:30pm

    All visitors must vacate the Gardens between 4:30pm and 6pm.

    Tickets for Mega Creatures Day Session and Mega Creatures Night Safari can be purchased separately, and Mega Creatures Day/Night combo tickets are valid for same day use only. Tickets are valid for nominated session only. All guest must exit the gardens between sessions (from 4:30pm to 6pm).

  • What additional free activities are available?

    Mega Creatures displays, Mega Creatures Trail app.

    Secret Dino Egg Hunt (during day session only)

    Walking Dinosaur from 10:30am to 2:30pm during day session and from 6:30pm to 9:30pm during night session.

  • Do you have to pay for the activities once inside the Gardens?

    The rides are user pay. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 not all our rides will be operationg during Mega Creatures, but you can enjoy a spin on the amazing Tea Cup, Carousel, Swing Chair & Ferris Wheel! Rides are $5 per person per ride* – height restrictions apply. These rides will be available from 9am till 4pm during day session and from 6pm till 10pm during the afternoon session.

  • Are there any guided tours of the Gardens during the day?

    Unfortunately, our train will not be available during Mega Creatures.

  • What new attractions are there this year?

    New for 2021 we will have a Walking Dinosaur! A Talking Tree, 3m Mantis, 2m Caterpillar, 3m Volcano and a group of fantastic creepy crawlies amongst the Gardens and more!

  • Would you have any special event for Easter long weekend from 2nd to 5th April 2021?

    Unfortunately, this year due to COVID-19 restrictions we won’t have the Giant Easter Egg Hunt. However, the Secret Dino Egg Hunt will take place every day during the day session. One dinosaur egg will be hidden within the Gardens. The lucky finder will win a family pass to the Snow Time in the Garden.

    The Easter Bunny will hand out chocolate eggs from 10am to 2pm during the day session only over the four days of Easter.

  • Where can I buy tickets to Mega Creatures?

    Tickets can be purchased online at hvg.com.au choosing your day and session subject to availability.

    Mega Creatures tickets are for single use only, tickets are valid for the date and session booked.

    Single ride tokens will be available for $5 each. Unlimited rides wristbands are not available.
    All rides are in addition to entry and can be purchased at the ticket booth located in the event area.

  • Which method of payment is accepted?

    Tickets will be available to purchase online, subject to availability. Please make sure you correctly CHOOSE your preferred date and session when selecting your tickets. No tickets will be available to be purchased over the phone.

  • What if I cannot attend the date I have booked?

    Subject to availability, we can alter the date of your booking, but you will need to contact the bookings department at least 24 hours in advance to do this. Please email bookings@hvg.com.au or fill this online form https://bit.ly/Booking_update. Alternatively, call on 4998 4020. The team will get back to you as soon as possible during business hours Monday to Friday.

  • Do I need to print my tickets?

    We recommend printing tickets. However mobile tickets are also accepted. Tickets are able to be retrieved at entry upon presentation of identification. If tickets cannot be presented at the gate, this will result in non-entry.

  • Can I use the day tickets for any night of the season?

    No. Mega Creatures tickets are date and time specific and can only be used for the day and session purchased. Tickets that are not valid for the day of arrival may be refused entry.

    In the event that Hunter Valley Gardens need to close due to a severe weather event, ticket holders will be offered a change of date (subject to availability) or a refund.

  • Can you purchase night tickets from entry on the day of your visit?

    Subject to availability, you may be able to purchase tickets at entry during the day of your visit. However, we strongly recommend purchasing all your tickets online in advance to avoid disappointment.

  • What happens if it rains?

    Mega Creatures is an outdoor activity and is subject to changing weather conditions. We do our very best to make sure the activities can remain open, which means the activities will continue in the case of rain and will only be cancelled if the weather conditions are considered dangerous by event management.

    Ponchos will be available for purchase at HV Gifts and Crystals; however, we strongly recommend you bring your own wet weather gear. The use of umbrellas is accepted.
    Hunter Valley Gardens will take all reasonable efforts to notify of a cancellation ASAP, however, due to the unpredictability of a change in weather conditions, cancellations may be at short notice.

  • Why does the event close in inclement weather?

    We do our best to run Mega Creatures at all advertised times, however sometimes due to adverse weather conditions that are occurring we have to close the event as it is a health and safety risk. PLEASE NOTE: we work very hard to open each day and night and will do everything in our power to ensure the event runs as planned.

  • I have purchased an online ticket, and it didn’t arrive, what is the next step?

    Most of the time tickets that have not been received are either caught by your email spam filters or the email address was incorrectly entered. If your tickets have not arrived, please email bookings@hvg.com.au before your date of arrival to get your tickets resent.

    If you have lost your ticket, please proceed to Mega Creatures activity with your valid identification and see our staff at garden entry. We will be able to look up your order at entry.

  • What is HVG’s activities refund policy?

    Refunds or changes of day and session will only be accepted up to 24 hours in advance of the booked day/session using this form http://bit.ly/Booking_update or via email to bookings@hvg.com.au. A new ticket will be issued for the revised session.

  • Can we use our entertainment card voucher to book Mega Creatures tickets?

    The entertainment card voucher doesn't apply to school holiday and event periods, including Mega Creatures.

  • Can I use the day/night ticket pass to visit on a different night or day from the date I booked?

    No. Mega Creatures Day/Night combo tickets are valid for same day use only.

Rides

  • What rides will be available?

    Due to COVID-19 restrictions we will only be operating the Tea Cup, Carousel, Swing Chair & Ferris Wheel during Mega Creatures and Mega Creatures Night Safari.

  • What are the rides?

    Our amusement rides bring an added element of fun to the Gardens for both the young and young at heart. Children must be supervised at all times whilst on the rides.

    Due to COVID-19 restrictions, we will only be operating the Tea Cup, Carousel, Swing Chair & Ferris Wheel during Mega Creatures and Mega Creatures Night Safari.

    Rides will not operate during adverse weather conditions as determined by the ride operator.

  • When are the rides available to use?

    Our rides are available to use from 9am to 4pm during the day session and from 6:30pm to 10pm during the night session.

  • Who can go on the rides?

    Ferris Wheel: Children below 120cm must ride with an adult.

    Carousel: Children below 105cm must ride with an adult (adult must stand next to child).

    Tea Cup: Children between 95cm - 120cm must ride with an adult, 120cm and above may ride alone.

    Swing Chair: Children between 110cm – 120cm must ride with an adult, 120cm and above mar ride alone.

    Children must be supervised at all times.

Ride Tokens

  • How much is a token?

    One single use token is $5.

  • What can I use the token on?

    The token can be used for one adult or one child for one single ride on the Ferris Wheel, Tea Cup, Swing Chair or Carousel.

  • Is one token all I need for the Ferris Wheel for my family?

    Tokens are per person, not per Gondola.

  • Do I need to purchase an additional token to ride with my child?

    All rides require a token per person. However, a parent may stand with a small child on the carousel ONLY for no additional cost.

  • Are there any physical restrictions on using the rides?

    Our rides are subject to safety requirements that a user must meet to participate. Key height restrictions are listed below, but other conditions can be found on the safety requirements signage at each of the rides.

    Ferris Wheel: Children below 120cm must ride with an adult.

    Carousel: This ride is for children only. Children below 105cm must ride with an adult (adult must stand next to child).

    Tea Cup: Not suitable for children younger than 2 years and under 95cm. Children between 95cm-120cm must ride with an adult, 120cm and above may ride alone.

    Swing Chair: Children between 110cm-120cm must ride with an adult, 120cm and above may ride alone.

    PLEASE NOTE: Heights are checked at each individual ride and access will be approved by the operator.

  • What if I have a baby, do they have to pay?

    Babies 18 months and below are permitted to ride with adults on the Ferris Wheel for free. They must have a token for the Carousel.

  • Do carers with companion cards have to pay to ride?

    No, carers who present a companion card at the rides ticket booth are able to get the same pass as their client or child for free.

  • Rides closures

    Safety is of the utmost importance to us. Due to weather and maintenance, we may temporarily close the rides at times for customer safety, however we do endeavour to have them open again as soon as possible.

Food and Beverages

Conditions of entry

  • Are there any conditions of entry due to COVID-19?

    Yes, we are following strict health and safety regulations and all the recommendations in place from the NSW Government.

    Guests will be required to check in via the NSW Government COVID-19 Safe app QR code prior to entry and present the confirmation page to a staff member for verification.

    During your visit to the Gardens, you must follow social distancing guidelines with 1.5 metres separation between each other unless you are members of the same household or close contacts. We follow strict hygiene practices and have COVID-19 Marshalls on site. Any guest displaying flu like symptoms will be refused entry.

  • Can I take my family pet, bike, skateboard, drone, rollerblades, or scooter inside Hunter Valley Gardens?

    In the interest of the public, all of the above are not permitted.

  • What happens to lost property?

    Lost property can be collected from Garden Entry or call 4998 4000. Items that are not claimed within 7 days will be discarded or donated to local charities.

  • Is HVG accessible to everyone?

    Hunter Valley Gardens is located on a 14-hectare site. The garden paths are approximately 8km and contain loose granite which can be navigated by wheelchairs. Please wear sensible footwear and take all necessary precautions to prevent injury to yourself.

  • Parking

    For visitors there is free parking available and limited disabled parking, displaying of a disability parking permit is required.

  • Guide dogs

    Registered guide dogs and companion dogs are allowed into the Gardens with their owners. Documentation for these animals is required upon entry.

  • Am I able to hire a wheelchair?

    No, we do not hire out wheelchairs.

  • Is HVG accessible to prams and strollers?

    Paths and ramps are wide enough to accommodate pedestrians, wheelchairs and strollers.

  • Do you accept the Companion Card for HVG?

    Yes. The Companion Card is a credit-card sized photo ID card issued to people with a disability who require lifelong attendant care. Please contact us via bookings@hvg.com.au to book your day and session of visit. A member of our team will get back to you as soon as possible.

  • Do you accept pensioners card, or do you have pensioners discount?

    We do not accept pensioner cards for these activities. However, we offer a Seniors discounted price.
