  • What are the opening hours and dates of Mega Creatures?

    Mega Creatures runs from Saturday 19th September until Sunday 11th October 2020.

    Due to COVID19 restrictions the Gardens have 2 sessions per day during Mega Creatures:

    Morning Session 8:00am - 12:30pm
    Afternoon Session 1:30pm - 6:00pm

  • Can I leave Mega Creatures and come back?

    Yes, pass outs are allowed providing you leave and return to the same session for which the ticket is purchased. See Garden Entry, your tickets will be stamped and retain your ticket as proof of payment.

  • What additional free activities are available?

    Mega Creatures displays, Mega Creatures Trail app, daily Dino Egg hunt are all included with entry. Please check the website for a complete list of activities.

  • Do you have to pay for the activities once inside the Gardens?

    The rides are user pay. Unfortunately, due to COVID19 the Carousel and Tea Cup rides will be the only rides operating during Mega Creatures 2020. Tickets are $5.00, are single use per ride and can be purchased from the Control Booth at each ride. Eftpos only.

  • Are there any guided tours of the gardens during the day?

    Unfortunately, due to COVID19 restrictions our train will not be operating during Mega Creatures.

  • What new attractions are there this year?

    New for 2020 we will have a 16m long Brachiosaurus, 3m tall Woolly Mammoth and two Saber-Toothed Tigers, interactive Mega Creatures Trail app with questions and tasks to complete throughout the display including a daily Dino Egg Hunt.

Tickets

  • Which rides will be operating?

    Due to COVID19 we will only be operating the Carousel and Tea Cup rides.

  • How much is a ride?

    Carousel and Tea Cup rides can be purchased from the marquee located between the Carousel and Tea Cup rides via EFTPOS only, no cash will be accepted. $5.00 per person per ride.

  • Are the rides cleaned between each ride?

    The rides will be cleaned twice per day with a Government approved cleaning solution that is effective for 24 hours.

  • To go on the rides, the following conditions must be met:

    Carousel - Children below 105cm must ride with an adult (adult must stand next to child).
    Tea Cup – Not suitable for children younger than 2 years and under 95cm.
    Children between 95cm – 120cm must ride with an adult.
    Please refer to further conditions at each ride.

  • Children must be supervised at all times.

    Parents / guardians must supervise their children at all times.

  • When are the rides available to use?

    Our rides are available to use from 8:30am to 12:00noon during the morning session and 2:00pm - 5:30pm during the afternoon session.

  • Do our rides ever close?

    Rides will close 30 minutes prior to the end of each session to allow for deep cleaning.

    Due to adverse weather events and maintenance we occasionally close our rides for the safety of our patrons.

  • Do carers with companion cards have to pay to ride?

    No, carers who present a companion card at the rides control booth are able to get the same pass as their client or child for free.

  • What happens if it rains?

    Mega Creatures is an outdoor activity and is subject to changing weather conditions. We do our very best to make sure the activities can remain open, which means the activities will continue in the case of rain and will only be cancelled if the weather conditions are considered dangerous by event management.

    Please note that no exchange will be provided to those who choose not to come due to weather despite the activity being deemed safe and open, unless changes to the booking are made 24 hours prior to the booked session, via email to events@hvg.com.au.

    Ponchos will be available for purchase at HV Gifts and Crystals; however we strongly recommend you bring your own wet weather gear. The use of umbrellas is accepted.

    If the activity is cancelled for any reason, information will be posted on the Hunter Valley Gardens’ Facebook page. Hunter Valley Gardens will take all reasonable efforts to notify of a cancellation ASAP, however due to the unpredictability of a change in weather conditions, cancellations may be at short notice.

  • Where can I buy tickets to Mega Creatures?

    Tickets can be purchased online at www.hvg.com.au or in person at Garden Entry prior to the sessions subject to availability.

  • Which method of payment is accepted?

    Hunter Valley Gardens online payments at www.hvg.com.au, cashless payments are encouraged at Garden Entry.

  • What is HVG’s activities refund policy?

    Refunds or changes of session will only be accepted up to 24 hours in advance of the booked session via email to events@hvg.com.au. A new ticket will be issued for the revised session.

  • I purchased an online ticket and it didn`t arrive, what is the next step?

    Most of the time tickets that have not been received are either caught by your spam filters or you have incorrectly entered your email address. If your tickets have not arrived please email events@hvg.com.au before your arrival to get your tickets resent.

    If you have lost your ticket, please proceed to Mega Creatures activity with your valid identification and see our staff at garden entry. We will be able to look up your order at entry. To make this process easier please print and bring with you any correspondence that you may have regarding your purchase.
